Nerja Here We Come

Nerja, Spain.

Sunday. 2 a.m. Heading North on th M40 motorway in the dark. We’re on our way to Nerja on the Costa del Sol in Spain.  Away from cold, wet and windy England to a bit of Mediterranean sunshine.

Why Nerja? Put simply, it was, shall we say, very cost effective. We were looking to get away as this may be the last chance before late in the year.

Late February / early March can be a great time for a getaway if you don’t have to worry about school holidays. European destination costs are low, daytime temperatures are in the shorts, t-shirt and sandals range. And, of course, it is sunny. Evenings can be cool, definitely jeans and jumpers required. On the risk side, the weather can be wet and windy, but it’s worth taking the chance.

And so, courtesy of Thomson Airlines, with a flying glimpse of snowy French mountains far below, a smooth landing in Malaga, and a bus ride, we are in the windy sunshine of a little coastal place called Nerja.

Watch this space.
